Guide 1: Recovery Plan
Defining Recovery Frameworks and Tools
Alberta has experienced three significant natural disasters since 2011—the Slave Lake Wildfire (2011), Southern Alberta Floods (2013), and Horse River Wildfire (Wood Buffalo Region, 2016). Each disaster demonstrated the need for municipalities to be prepared for proactive, pre-disaster recovery planning to allow municipal leaders and community decision-makers to act strategically and effectively. This toolkit will introduce and define recovery frameworks, planning, and decision-support tools to support municipal elected officials, public servants, and stakeholders in drafting a community-specific, all-hazards, pre-disaster recovery contingency plan (PDR Contingency Plan).
